Cool and sweet snacks are our best friend in the hot summer days, and smoothies are a healthy option that don’t sacrifice flavor over low calories. One of our most beloved combos is that of banana and strawberry. It’s a duo that offers that acid flavor and fruity aroma in strawberry and the sweet and light taste of banana perfectly blended together to create a balanced flavor.
But before that, you might be wondering why eating a smoothie out of a bowl instead of using a large cup and a straw. Well! A smoothie has a thicker consistency than juice or other refreshing drinks, and once you add the topping it becomes perfect for serving in bowl. The point here is that eating a smoothie rather than drinking it gives the satisfying feeling of having an actual meal, especially with the crunchy topping.
When it comes to adding the topping, the more the merrier.
You might think its extra effort but instead it’s just learning how to make healthier choices
There is no Holy Grail recipe when it comes to a simple snack like this, but for those who need one we can suggest this one. With this recipe you’ll be able to get your smoothie ready within no more than five or ten minutes. Like mentioned before, it’s a healthy vegan friendly and incredibly delicious.
1. Let’s start with the ingredients:
What’s great about smoothies is that you don’t need much. Nothing is complicated, just make sure you have the following in your kitchen and you’re good to go:
(For two bowls)
- 2 Frozen bananas
- 3 Cups of frozen strawberries
- 1 Cup of silk unsweetened coconut milk
Let’s not forget the topping:
- 1 cup of dried strawberries
- 1 cup of dried bananas
- Freshly sliced strawberries
- Fresh sliced bananas
- Dried banana & strawberries
- Dried nuts (you can use almond, walnuts, peanuts…etc.)
2. Get to mixing :
For the frozen banana and strawberries, you need to freeze them for at least 12 hours to get that thick texture that would make it convenient for the spoon. Make sur to split the bananas into half as to not blunt the mixer blades.
Throw the strawberries, the bananas, and the silk unsweetened coconut milk into the blender. You can use the sweetened one if you like, but for a healthier choice, stick to the former one. Press the start button and let it all blend until it merges into a purée like texture. It shouldn’t take more than a few seconds.
Now for the grand finale! Distribute the mix on the serving bowls and add the topping. You can custom the toppings based on your choice and preference’s.
It’s better to use fresh fruits, dried ones, nuts or dark low sugar chocolate to get all those healthy neutrinos and add that satisfying crunchiness.
You see! That was easy and didn’t take long, just as promised. Now try it with other fruits and enjoy your healthy sweet treats.
